With the North Georgia mountains just hours from the heart of Atlanta, there's no shortage of scenic views for city dwellers.

  1. Brasstown Bald -  This mountain's Visitor Center is the highest point in Georgia, at 4,784 feet above sea level. You will find it is a short drive from Blairsville, Hiawassee, and Helen.
  2. Blood Mountain - This mountain is one of the most popular day hikes in North Georgia. It’s the highest-elevation summit on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia.
  3. Stone Mountain - The park includes 3200 acres featuring outdoor recreational activities, seasonal attractions, and a variety of on-site lodging options.
  4. Sawnee Mountain Preserve - The mountain in Cumming is made up of  963 acres that include multiple hiking trails, Indian Seats, a tree canopy classroom, a playground, two picnic pavilions, a climbing area, an amphitheater, and a visitor center.
  5. Red Top Mountain - The park at Red Top Mountain is best known for the 12,000-acre lake. But it also includes camping and hiking with more than 15 miles of trails wind through the forested park.
